Ought non ha infinito ed è utilizzato per tutte le persone, può essere utilizzato per presente o futuro e al passato quando è preceduto da un verbo al passato. E’ seguito da infinito con il to.

La forma negativa è ought not (oughtn’t) la forma interrogativa è ought I ? ought you?……

Should può essere utilizzato allo stesso modo e domande o risposte possono essere fatte anche con should

affermativa = used per tutte le persone

negativa = used not - usen’t per tutte le persone

interrogativa = used I ?

si può utilizzare I didn’t used to – did I used to ? Ma è più formale

- è utilizzato per un’abitudine persa o un’azione passate che contrasta con il presente

- è utilizzato per esprimere un routine passata o uno schema
